Prof. Moreira is a professor of Pathology at New York University Langone Medical Center. He is the director of Surgical Pathology and CardioThoracic Pathology service, as well as the director of the Center of Biorepository Research and Development.

He has worked extensively in the fields of Thoracic Pathology, including Mediastinal Pathology and Cytopathology, mostly in applied research on the issue of tissue utilization for clinical practice and experimental protocols with an emphasis on the assessment of prognostic and predictive biomarkers.

He is a member of the pathologists group of the Lung Cancer Mutation Consortium, the focus of the group is the standardization of immunohistochemical stains for biomarkers. He is a member of the Pathology Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. The committee was instrumental in the revised classification of lung cancer and is now focusing on the validation of biomarkers in lung tumors.

His work has resulted in over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and several book chapters. He is an active member of several pathology societies, and participates in several workshops and lectures on the subjects of his expertise.
