Yusuke Okuma, MD, PhD

Dr. Okuma is a thoracic oncologist at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, and a member of the Section of Liaison for Cancer Genomic Medicine Hospitals at the Center for Cancer Genomic and Advanced Therapeutics (C-CAT). Prior to this, he worked at Komagome Hospital for a period of 15 years. He has assumed a role as a Group Delegate Member of the Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG) Lung Cancer Study Group since 2016, and has also served as a member of the JCOG Protocol Review Committee from 2015 to 2017 and again from 2019 to the present. Additionally, he is also committed to the development of oncology guidelines as a member of the Chemotherapy & Multidisciplinary Treatment of Guideline Control Committee (2016-present) and Thymic Malignancies (2018-present) of The Japan Lung Cancer Society.

His main areas of research interest include conducting clinical trials focused on lung cancer, thymic malignancies, and translational research such as the gut microbiome. Notably, his work in this field has been recognized with the Best of the AACR Journals 2020-2021. Currently, He serves as a councilor on the Steering Committee of the International Thymic Malignancies Interest Group (ITMIG).
