Interviews with Editorial Board Members

MED features a distinguished editorial board, the members of which continue to instill the power of their expertise for the journal’s development. By launching this column, we are glad to introduce to you some of them in the form of interviews, in which they will share their unique career experiences and perspectives. We believe their insights will shed light on the knowledge of related fields.

Mediastinum has become the official journal of ITMIG

We proudly announce that since May 22, 2024, Mediastinum (MED) has become the official journal of the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group (ITMIG). This represents a collaborative partnership between two institutions with a mutual goal – the advancement of clinical and basic science pertaining to thymic malignancies and related conditions.

Mediastinum 2023 CiteScore Released: 1.2

We are pleased to announce that the Mediastinum (MED) has received its 2023 CiteScore: 1.2, ranking 251 out of 398 journals in the Medicine (miscellaneous) category.

Furthermore, we are delighted to highlight the remarkable achievements made by all AME journals in the CiteScore ranking.

Interviews with Outstanding Authors (2024)

In 2024, many MED authors make outstanding contributions to our journal. Their articles published with us have received very well feedback in the field and stimulate a lot of discussions and new insights among the peers.

Interview

MED: What motivated you to specialize in general thoracic surgery?

Prof. Hamaji: Before I graduated from medical school of Kyoto University, my beloved grandfather passed away from lung cancer, which I decided to fight against.

MED: Could you share a brief overview of the current publications on thymic epithelial tumors?

Prof. Hamaji: Thymic epithelial tumors are the second most frequent malignancy in the thorax. Asian countries have contributed tremendously to the progress of research in thymic epithelial tumors, but there still is room for advancement in this field. Due to its rarity, molecular or genetic studies are challenging. Tissue banks will be required for extensive research and we are currently working on a project.
